The statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, situated at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital roundabout in Sekondi, Western Region, has been completely destroyed.
This marks the second act of vandalism against the monument, which was originally unveiled to honour the former president’s contributions to healthcare and infrastructure development in the region.
The first incident occurred on December 16, 2024, when unidentified individuals damaged the statue’s leg.
Although it was repaired shortly afterwards, no arrests were made, and the motives behind the act remained unclear.
The most recent attack, which has left the statue entirely toppled, took place less than a week after Akufo-Addo completed his tenure as president.
The statue was erected during his administration as a symbol of the government’s efforts to improve healthcare delivery in the Western Region, particularly through initiatives to expand access to medical facilities and resources for underserved communities.
