Manchester United Targets Edson Alvarez As Casemiro Replacement

With Casemiro’s impending exit, Manchester United needs to add a new midfield player, and they have a particular player in mind.

After a disappointing season, Casemiro is set to leave Old Trafford. United are now eyeing West Ham’s Edson Alvarez as his replacement, according to Fabrizio Romano.

A move for the Mexican midfielder is possible since Ten Hag, who previously worked with him at Ajax, admires him. During his time in the Eredivisie, the 26-year-old was often linked to United. Alvarez joined West Ham last summer on a £35 million ($44.4m) deal and impressed as Declan Rice’s replacement.

If Ten Hag signs Alvarez this summer, he will be the fourth former Ajax player Ten Hag has brought to Old Trafford since 2022, following Antony, Lisandro Martinez, and Andre Onana.

If Alvarez decides to leave the team this summer, it’s probably only going to happen after Mexico’s Copa America campaign is done, since Jamie Lozano has summoned the West Ham player.
