Sunday evening’s University of Ghana Sports Stadium final pitted Maxwell Konadu and his side against Bofoakwa Tano, their regional rivals.
120 minutes of high-stakes action culminated in a 1-1 stalemate. After a precise cross from the left by Ali Alhassan, Richard Dzikoe scored from close range to give Bofoakwa Tano the lead in the 21st minute.
Despite this early deficit, Sadat Mohammed’s long-range strike late in the second half gave Nsoatreman FC an equalizer thanks to a goalkeeper’s error.
After a thrilling overtime period in which neither team was able to score, a thrilling penalty shootout ensued.
Nsoatreman FC won the 2023–24 MTN FA Cup trophy after a 5–4 shootout victory.
Mr Wilson Arthur, who is the FA Cup Committee chairman told the media before the final:
The winner of this year’s FA Cup will receive GHC 80,000, along with an additional GHC 100,000 to help prepare for the CAF Confederation Cup,”
“We are in ongoing discussions with the FA and the government to secure increased funding for the club to ensure strong performance in Africa.”
Now, Nsoatreman FC is excited to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time the following season.
