₵118 Million Debt Causes Delay In Release Of 2024 WASSCE Results
According to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has been impacted by the Ministry of Education’s delay in paying its GH₵118 million debt.
WAEC clarified in a statement that the results won’t be made public until all post-examination issues have been addressed.
According to the Council, the scanning of objective exam cards has paused because of scanner malfunctions, even though the marking of essay and practical components was finished on November 29, 2024.
“The Council is awaiting the release of additional funds out of the outstanding balance of GHC118,000,000.00 from the Ministry of Education to enable the scanning process and other post-examination processes to continue smoothly,” the statement read.
Students, parents, and other stakeholders have been advised by WAEC to ignore unofficial dates that are making the rounds on social media during the postponement.
Additionally, the Council urged its unpaid vendors and examination authorities to be patient.
