150 Wraps Of Cocaine Excreted At The Airport By Two Elderly Suspects
At the screening area of Terminal 2 of Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, two passengers on a Qatar Airways flight headed for Doha were taken into custody by agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
This came about after they tested positive on Friday, June 21, for having used illegal narcotics.
Afterwards, Aikhomoun Daniel (also known as Oladapo Olanrewaju) and Ayigoro Waheed Omobolaji, the suspects, were placed under observational custody, according to a statement made by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi on Sunday, June 30.
He said Daniel excreted a total of 90 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.022kg in six instances, while Ayigoro expelled 60 wraps of the same Class A substance weighing 662 grams in five instances.
Further investigation revealed that Aikhomoun Daniel had assumed the identity of his deceased uncle, who had lived in Germany, to obtain a Schengen visa for easier access to Europe. His real name is Oladapo Olanrewaju.
In a separate incident, NDLEA agents intercepted 6,125 cartons of codeine syrup, totaling 1,050,000 bottles of the opioid, with a street value exceeding N7.35 billion, at the Port Harcourt Ports complex in Onne, Rivers State.
