4 Car Snatchers Jailed To 120 Years Imprisonment In Asokwa

Four carjackers were sentenced to 120 years in jail by Asokwa Circuit Court One in Kumasi; each offender is currently serving a 30-year sentence.

Following a string of robberies in the Kumasi metropolis, twenty-two-year-old Jeffrey Jomoh, also known as Jeff; twenty-eight-year-old Clifford Opoku, also known as Spider; Prince Opuni; and Kwabena Kyei Baffour were found guilty.

They carried out a gunpoint robbery and carjacking at Kyirikrom in the Ashanti area prior to their capture in 2022.

The police prosecutor, ASP Stephen Ofori, claims that the prisoners had committed a number of offenses prior to their apprehension.

When they first appeared in court in February 2023, they were accused of plotting to commit robbery in violation of the law.

Under the direction of His Worship Frederick Obikyere, the court sentenced and found all four of them guilty in three robbery counts.

According to the police prosecutor, this ought to dissuade potential robbers from carrying out such a scheme.

After having his car taken at gunpoint, Mr. Kwabena Appiah expressed his happiness with the sentence.

When he got home from work, he informed JoyNews that the armed robbers had attacked him and threatened to kill him if he didn’t give them his car.

“From there I filed a report to the police for them to commence investigation and finally processed them to court for this final ruling,” he said.

He is happy with the years handed for the convicts to serve in jail.
