42 Demonstrators Arrested After Clash With Police During #ReOccupyJulorbiHouse
On Sunday, September 22, 2024, 42 persons were taken into custody by the Ghana Police Service following a confrontation between demonstrators from the Democracy Hub and police at the 37 Intersection in Accra.
According to the police, the protestors assembled at the crossroads illegally and started causing havoc.
A few of them got into a police car, removed the ignition key, and tossed it aside. Others destroyed property, obstructed traffic, and toppled barriers.
Several of the group’s leaders were among those detained; they are still in police custody and will appear in court shortly.
Oliver Vormawor, one of the protest leaders, is now evading capture and is being sought by authorities.
