63 Prisoners Undergo Free Surgery Operations
63 prisoner referrals from eight different prison facilities in the nation have received complimentary surgical procedures according to the Ghana Prisons Service.
32 hernia repairs, 14 lipomata, seven hydroceles, two fibroadenomas, three bullet pallet removals, and five cystic body swellings were among the surgeries performed at the Nsawam Prison Hospital.
It was organized in cooperation with True Vine Charismatic Church International and the Chosen Hospital.
The 63 prisoners were chosen from the Ankaful Maximum Prison, Nsawam Female Prison, Osamkrom Camp Prison, Nsawam Medium Security Prison, Nsawam Camp Prison, James Camp Prison, Akuse, and the Winneba Local Prison. Among them were female detainees with various surgical problems.
Surgeons
At the Nsawam Prison Hospital, which is fully furnished with standard surgical equipment, a group of highly qualified medical professionals, including five consultant surgeons, two licensed senior medical officers, three anesthetists, and twenty allied health professionals, began the free surgical outreach.
Intervention
The Prisons Service stated that the intervention was a component of a larger reform initiative to enhance jail conditions and protect the health and welfare of prisoners.
Standard aseptic care was provided to the patients, guaranteeing strict adherence to all infection prevention and control (IPC) guidelines.
Presently, app prisoners are admitted to the Nsawam Prison Hospital unit, where they are receiving care following surgery.
