Not a curse but there is something holding the Black Stars back – Abe Pobee

Not a curse but there is something holding the Black Stars back – Abe Pobee.

Veteran football administrator Jonathan Abe Pobee says there is something beyond the physical realm that is holding the Black Stars from achieving big things.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports in the wake of Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton’s much talked about meeting with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council reportedly over the future of Hughton.

Reacting to the news, Abe Pobee pointed to coaching as the least of Ghana’s problems but touched on something that can’t be explained in physical terms.

“There is something holding this Black Stars. It’s not a curse because we are not doing the right thing. The tax payers are crying so how do you succeed? How can God give you luck to perform so forget about coaching. It’s not a matter of coaching.”

Ghana is billed to play Madagascar on November 17 and Comoros on November 21 in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
