Alan John Kyerematen, an independent presidential candidate, has formed a strategic partnership with the National Interest Movement, led by former Convention People’s Party (CPP) flagbearer Abu Sakara, for the 2024 elections. This collaboration, known as the ‘Alliance for Revolutionary Change (ARC),’ was announced through a statement on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
Mr. Kyerematen outlined the objectives of the Alliance in the statement, with an official launch scheduled for Wednesday, April 17. The primary goal of the ARC is to unite Ghanaians from diverse backgrounds, focusing on engaging the youth and women. One goal is to elect the first independent presidential candidate in Ghana’s history.
The statement emphasized the urgency of breaking the cycle of poverty and steering the nation towards prosperity. The Alliance seeks to tackle the core developmental challenges persisting in Ghana over the past 32 years.
The ARC aims to eliminate the divisiveness, rectify the ‘Winner takes all’ syndrome, and continuity in government projects. It envisions the establishment of an all-inclusive Government of National Unity, comprising representatives from various sectors of society, to collaborate on formulating a comprehensive National Development Plan driving Ghana’s economic transformation.

He held key positions in government, serving as Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry under President Jerry Rawlings’ administration.
