Erik Ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is allegedly prepared to step down if he does not soon have the support of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Ten Hag is reportedly prepared to quit United without receiving a vote of confidence from the chairman of INEOS, citing an increasingly uncertain future and a campaign that fell short of United’s expectations, according to The Mirror. The Dutchman believes that Ratcliffe and he are in agreement. But since the Premier League confirmed Ten Hag’s 27.7% ownership in February, the 71-year-old has not openly backed Ten Hag as a co-owner.
Ten Hag’s current contract has one year left on it, but he is prepared to walk away from the team without any assurances of a long-term stay. Ten Hag had total power over hiring during the previous administration, but Omar Berrada, the CEO, Jason Wilcox, the technical director, and the expected arrival of Newcastle’s Dan Ashworth might restrict his future influence.
According to reports, Ten Hag may return to his previous team, Ajax, who have expressed interest in recruiting the 54-year-old manager who helped them succeed before United signed him. They have had difficulty the whole season, and at the conclusion of it, they will split ways with John Van’t Schip.
With just four matchdays left, Ten Hag will be working hard regardless of his future role at the club as United looks to attempt and get into the top four Champions League berths. With the intention of getting back to winning ways, they will play Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.
