Glovo, a well-known meal delivery service, has decided to stop operating in Ghana as of May 10, 2024, at 10 p.m.
The firm stated in a correspondence to its suppliers that it would require a significant expenditure spread over a longer time frame in order to establish a more powerful position and turn a profit in the Ghanaian market.
Glovo has chosen to focus its efforts on the other 23 nations in which it conducts business, while acknowledging the potential of the Ghanaian market.
Glovo’s decision to end operations in Ghana by May 10th is part of a strategic shift to improve its services for the vast number of customers who use the Glovo app every day. The company aims to optimize its resources to better meet the needs of its users.
In light of this transition, Glovo has assured its vendors that they will receive all outstanding payments according to the agreed terms and conditions in a timely manner, without any delays.
To streamline the shutdown process, all Glovo stores in Ghana will transition to accept both credit and cash orders automatically. This adjustment aims to simplify transactions and aid in the reconciliation process for impacted entities as the company prepares for closure.
Additionally, Glovo’s specialized business team will remain active in supporting customers and entities throughout the upcoming month. Their focus will be on addressing any lingering issues thoroughly to ensure a smooth transition for all involved parties.
While Glovo’s decision to end operations in Ghana may disappoint some customers, the company is committed to handling the shutdown in a responsible and supportive manner, prioritizing the needs of both users and entities during this period of change.
