Kasoa: Soldier Killed In Land Dispute (Video)

Two other officers who were with the deceased and who are said to be in his late 30s were not injured when the deceased soldier was shot and killed.

Sources close to Citi News said that the incident took place in front of the Millennium City Police station in the Central Region’s Gomoa East District.

According to information obtained by Citi News, a brother of a chief soldier purchased a plot of property from certain chiefs in Millennium City, but landguards fiercely opposed their attempts to develop the land.

After filing an initial report at the Millennium City District Police Command, the dead military man drove to the location with two other police to find a permanent solution to the issue.

When the officers in a Toyota Rav 4 with registration number GR 3591-24 arrived at the location, they saw some people working there and told them to stop. They then planned to file a second complaint at the Kasoa Millennium City District Police station, but Benlord Ababio, the Gyasehene of Millennium City, met them there and insisted they not go there.

When the police chose to travel to the Divisional command because their attempts at the District command had failed, he shot at the officers’ car from behind after rejecting the chief’s plea, killing one of the cops.

An eyewitness narrating the incident to Citi News said “I saw the incident happen right in front of me. The Chief, Benload Ababio met the military officers at the District Police station and was trying to speak to them not to go to the Divisional Police Command but they didn’t listen.

“While they were heading to the Divisional command just after moving their vehicle the Gyamehene Benlord Ababio fired at their vehicle just behind them leading to one of the officers dying in the process. Two other officers escaped unhurt but the chief was arrested immediately after the incident and sent to the Divisional Police Command.

He was later transferred to Accra Division by the police for fear of being attacked by the landguards in the area.”
