Asokore Mampong: Woman Arrested for Double Registration
In an attempt to participate in the ongoing restricted voter registration drive, a nursing mother was taken into custody.
This effort to register eligible voters who are at least eighteen years old is a preamble to the general elections that will take place on December 7.
At the Asokore Mampong EC district office, where she reportedly made two attempts to register, the woman in issue was apprehended.
She was turned over to the polling place police by EC officers.
She begged to be forgiven because of her kid, but the police refused, citing the seriousness of her crime.
The electoral commissioners warned the qualified voters not to participate in any electoral fraud for fear that it would be used against them.
Meanwhile, the registration process at the Asokore Mampong station began slowly due to technical issues with the electronics.
After more than four hours, only a few applications had been processed successfully, leading to growing tension among those waiting.
The EC is currently registering new voters and updating the voter list. If you’re eligible to vote and haven’t registered yet, you can do it now. You just need to bring some ID and fill out a form. They’ll take your picture and fingerprints too. The EC sends teams all over to make sure everyone has a chance of registration. They use special machines to do it. They also tell people what they need to bring and who can register. If there are any problems with the machines, they fix them quickly so everyone can register easily.
