#DumsorMustStop Vigil To Finally Kick Off On June 8

The #DumsorMustStop vigil organizers have declared that the demonstration will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

The Ghana Police Service, raising concerns over the protest site’s proximity to a security installation, filed an application for an injunction to stop the vigil. This led to the current action.

At a news conference on Wednesday, June 5, the organizers, under the direction of Henry Osei, affirmed that all the difficulties with the police had been settled.

The people was reassured by Mr. Osei that the protest would take place peacefully and that they would have the utmost protection from the police.

The #DumsorMustStop vigil is intended to put pressure on the government to address Ghana’s power problem, which has resulted in sporadic power supplies during peak hours in several areas of the country.

The organizers attribute the crisis to the government’s inability to pay for the necessary fuel, as claimed by independent power producers.

Mr. Osei states that on June 8, members of the public are anticipated to join the vigil, and they will march peacefully from the University of Ghana to Tetteh Quarshie Interchange.

The organizers also emphasized the substantial discrepancy between the nation’s actual supply and generation capability of electricity.

The public has been asked to participate in the vigil and call for an end to the nation’s power crisis.
