Sefwi Akuraa: Body of Missing 3-Year-Old Girl Found In Galamsey Pit
In an illegal mining pit [galamsey], the lifeless body of a three-year-old girl who vanished from Sefwi Akuraa, a rural settlement in the Amenfi West part of the Western Region, has been discovered floating.
Three days after she vanished, on Sunday afternoon, July 14, her lifeless body was discovered floating in the pit excavated by unauthorized miners.
As a result, the locals are becoming more concerned about the rise in illicit mining activity.
She vanished on Friday afternoon while supposedly playing outside with other kids in the neighborhood, which is near Samreboi in the Amenfi West Municipality.
The toddler’s lifeless body was discovered floating on stagnant water in one of the town’s several galamsey pits after three days of searching and combing the entire area.
The toddler’s mother, Maame Yaa, claims that last Friday she was in the room with her daughter when she went outside to get watermelon.
She hurried to where the other kids were playing after returning and finding her absent from the room, where she was having fun with them.
She left her there, but when she returned a little later to pick her up, she was gone.
The elders were notified following hours of searching, and a search party was created to go across the entire town.
The deceased body was discovered on Sunday after three days of searching.
Numerous illegal mining shafts have flooded into the farming community region of Sefwi Akuraa, endangering life and property.
