Atta Mills Family Threatens to Sue Koku Anyidoho

The late Professor John Evans Atta Mills’ family has declared their intention to obtain an injunction prohibiting Koku Anyidoho, the CEO of the Atta Mills Institute, from using the late President’s name in any official capacity.

According to the family, Koku Anyidoho is discrediting the former President’s name.

In an interview with journalists in Accra following chaos that broke out during the wreath-laying ceremony held at Asomdwee Park to commemorate the late President’s brother’s 12-year passing, Samuel Atta Mills stated that the family had had enough of Koku Anyidoho.

Mr. Anyidoho was chastised by him for trespassing on Prof. Atta Mills’ grave.

Nii Lante Vanderpuye, the Odododiodoo member of parliament, has accused the state of allowing the late president’s former assistant to attend the memorial service.

He stated:

“Auntie Araba [Mercy Araba Ahema Quarshie] is a direct senor sister of Prof Atta Mills, Cadman Atta Mills is alive, Samuel Atta Mills is alive, the son, Kofi Atta Mills is alive. And people will come and say they are the family of Prof. Atta Mills and they are coming to perform the remembrance and national security and the whole state apparatus will permit them to do that. When for years now, the state has recognised the fact that the NDC and the family have collaborated to organise such situations

“When his memorial heritage was launched former President Kufuor sent a delegation, the presidency sent a delegation, so the presidency cannot say that they are not aware of the existence of the memorial heritage or the annual celebration of Prof Atta Mills’ memory by the NDC and the heritage,”

The second memorial ceremony for the relatives and NDC members of Atta Mills was delayed on Wednesday due to the former deputy general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) going over his permitted time, creating a tumultuous situation at Asomdwee Park.

During his wreath-laying ceremony, Mr. Anyidoho was accused by the late President’s family of transporting people to act as his relatives.
