Motorbike Thieves Cut Off Okada Rider’s Hand, Arrested Shortly

Awutu Bereku Police have detained two individuals for the violent act of chopping off the hand of an Okada rider and stealing his motorcycle at Awutu Ahentia in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region. According to the victim, Stephen Tetteh, the two suspects stopped him at Awutu Bereku Lorry Station and hired him to drive them to Ahentia. Once at the location, they threw powdered pepper on him and pulled him off the motorcycle. When he attempted to stop them from taking his unlicensed motorcycle, one of the suspects produced a cutlass and severed his left hand.

Stephen stated that he learned that some robbers had been taken into custody by the police as he was attending to his injuries.

He went to the police station and made the suspects’ identities known.

Stephen Tetteh urged the Police to increase security in advance of the Yuletide, lamenting the widespread motorbike robberies in the Awutu Senya District.
