NABCO Trainees Seek Peace Council Intervention Over Unpaid Allowances
The issue of unpaid allowance arrears, which has affected trainees since 2021, has prompted the Coalition of NABCO Trainees to make an urgent appeal to the National Peace Council, requesting quick intervention.
In the event that their complaints go unanswered, the Coalition has expressed grave worries about the protracted delays and made plans for a large-scale protest at Jubilee House’s courtyard one week prior to the next elections.
The Coalition believes that by involving the National Peace Council, the problem will be resolved and future escalation will be avoided.
The coalition emphasized in a written petition to the council members the serious effects of the unpaid allowances on their means of subsistence as well as the wider ramifications for stability and national security.
Trainees are considering more serious steps because the issue is still unsolved despite multiple appeals to the Office of the President and related Ministries.
In order to hasten the payment of the arrears, the Coalition emphasized the Peace Council’s crucial role in preserving peace during the election period and encouraged the council to communicate with the President.
They expressed optimism that a peaceful election and the preservation of national security would be made possible by the Peace Council’s intervention.
