2024 Elections: See The Presidential Candidates Cleared To Run By The EC

Thirteen candidates have received official approval from the Electoral Commission (EC) to run in the 2024 presidential election.

Following a rigorous screening procedure, the list comprises candidates from various political backgrounds, including major party nominees and a number of independents.

Following months of political campaigns and stringent qualification checks by the EC to make sure each candidate fulfilled the necessary requirements, the announcement was made.

Among the prominent contenders are John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Both candidates want to win over voters with promises of more social services, better infrastructure, and economic reform.

Apart from these well-known figures, a number of novice contenders have surfaced, standing for smaller parties and independent platforms and seeking to take on the political establishment with novel concepts and an innovative outlook on administration.

In a press release released on Friday, September 19, the Electoral Commission emphasized how fairly and transparently the selection process was carried out.

Each candidate was had to present extensive supporting documents, which was carefully examined. This included their financial records, citizenship status, and nomination papers.

The EC further urged the candidates to run nonviolent campaigns and follow the nation’s electoral laws in order to maintain a democratic and orderly election process.

Political analysts anticipate a fierce contest as the election season gets off, particularly in light of the nation’s ongoing economic difficulties and the public’s mounting discontent with the political system.
