More Arrested Democracy Hub Demonstrators Arraigned Before Court

Today, a new batch of detained Democracy Hub demonstrators appeared in court in Accra.

Before their planned hearing, the group of young people arrived in a bus and were severely guarded.

Conspicuously absent from the group was #FixTheCountry convenor, who, according to authorities, is receiving medical attention at the hospital together with another inmate.

Today is the second day that demonstrators detained during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse movement are being arraigned.

In relation to the rally organized by the pressure organization Democracy Hub, the Accra court on Tuesday remanded around 39 demonstrators into detention.

The group from yesterday, which numbered roughly 39, was likewise driven by several busses while being closely watched by security.

During the course of the three-day demonstration at the 37 Roundabout, where the demonstrators were raising awareness of issues like economic mismanagement and illicit small-scale mining, or galamsey, they were arrested.

On Sunday, September 22, during the protest’s second day, a significant altercation broke out between the Democracy Hub demonstrators and the Ghana Police Service.
