Hohoe Resident Severely Punished For Tearing Down NPP Posters.

Ten canings were meted out to a young guy who is yet to be identified and a resident of Hohoe in the Volta Region for destroying campaign posters belonging to John-Peter Amewu, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Hohoe Constituency.

The vice chairman of the Gbi-Bla House of Justice, a volunteer organization supporting the parliamentary candidate, Jonas-Kwofi Worlanyo, told GNA that they had noticed a sharp rise in the destruction of the candidate’s posters.

Destroying, removing, or defacing the election materials of other candidates or parties is prohibited by the electoral code and is considered an electoral offense in Ghana.

Laws pertaining to these offenses impose fines, jail sentences, or in certain cases, both.
