Worshippers Scatter As Bees Attack Sunyani Central Mosque
On Friday, October 18, 2024, Islamic prayers came to an abrupt halt when a swarm of bees infiltrated the Sunyani Central Mosque and caused chaos.
Around 1320 hours, the hundreds of Muslim worshippers who had assembled for prayers left the mosque, covering their faces in order to avoid being attacked.
The event occurred when they were performing the customary Friday prayers.
Nonetheless, the scenario was averted thanks to a prompt reaction by a few members of the Ghana Ambulance Service and the Bono Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service.
The Ghana News Agency (GNA) learned that while members of the GNFS were able to save a number of Muslims, the bees did not spare other attendees, particularly the elderly and a few ladies who became stuck due to the chaos.
As the bees ran wild in the neighborhood, shop owners and a few small merchants near the central mosque along the Sunyani-Zongo one-way were also targeted by the attack.
The GNFS’s Bono Regional Public Relations Officer, Assistant Divisional Officer Grade One (ADO1) Kwame Adomako Antwi, told the GNA that the account was true and that some of the firemen had also been attacked by bees.
He claimed that since then, the victims had been given medicine.
ADOI clarified that although the crew got at the mosque to discover that it had been overrun by bees, they had received a distress call regarding an apparent fire at the mosque.
