Philip Kwabena Agyemang, better known as Roman Fada, has been named the Ghana Freedom Party’s (GFP) new presidential candidate for the 2024 election.
This comes after the Electoral Commission (EC) issued a 10-day deadline for a replacement when its founder and flagbearer, Akua Donkor, passed away too soon.
Roman Fada was Madam Donkor’s running mate before her death.
To guarantee a seamless transition, the party’s leadership held lengthy deliberations before deciding to choose Roman Fada.
Mr. Kubi’s nomination will be submitted to the EC in due time, according to a statement signed by George Afful, the GFP’s general secretary.
In the past, the candidate had stated that if the law allowed it, he would be willing to take over as flagbearer.
On Monday, October 28, 2024, Madam Donkor died in Ridge Hospital.
