President Akufo-Addo chastised opposition leader John Dramani Mahama’s economic management record on Wednesday, November 6, while on a tour of the Central Region.
Akufo-Addo claimed that the collapse of the Kumasi Brewery, which had previously been open twenty-four hours a day, was an example of Mr. Mahama’s failure to maintain important enterprises under his direction.
President Akufo-Addo declared that Mr. Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was untrustworthy and could not be relied upon to keep his word.
He asked Ghanaians to be cautious about putting Mahama back in power in the next elections and to remember the economic disasters that occurred under his rule.
The president said that it would be a “mistake” to elect Mahama again, arguing that his rule would cause the nation to regress rather than advance.
In order to promote sustained development, President Akufo-Addo underlined the need of leadership continuity and stability and urged voters to support the policies of his administration.
Finally, he warned Ghanaians against voting for the former president in order to repeat what he called previous “errors.”
President Akufo-Addo’s message was unambiguous: in order to guarantee long-term progress, Ghana should avoid regressing and instead concentrate on building on recent successes.
