Generous Ibrahim Mahama Covers Treatment Costs For 10-Year-Old Leukemia Patient
Lisa Laryea’s family is gathered around a phone in the Ridge Hospital hallways, observing her slender smile from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
It’s the only time they’ve seen the 10-year-old in days.
Once a source of joy and brightness in her home, Lisa is currently facing stage 4 leukemia, a potentially fatal illness of the bone marrow and blood.
Lisa was well-known for her passion for reading and her aspiration to become a pediatrician. She attended Lerato Preparatory and JHS in Lartebiokorshie.
Her active life, however, came to a halt on October 31, 2024, when a minor headache and cold turned into something unthinkable.
She needs immediate medical attention for her illness, which includes a bone marrow transplant in South Africa. The price? An incredible $100,000. Raising this money seemed unachievable for Lisa’s family.
The family was so desperate that they took to social media to tell Lisa’s tale and make a sincere request for assistance.
Ibrahim Mahama
The family’s hopes were granted when the post reached Ibrahim Mahama, CEO of Engineers & Planners and Dzata Cement, after it swiftly went viral.
Mr. Mahama, who is well-known for his charitable endeavors, has promised to pay for Lisa’s whole medical care, including airfare to South Africa for a doctor and for Lisa, her mother, and aunt.
The relief was enormous for Georgia and the rest of Lisa’s family.
Lisa’s aunt also thanked the family for their unwavering support throughout this difficult time.
Lisa is scheduled to depart on Thursday, November 21, 2024, for South Africa. The family is hopeful that this marks a significant milestone in their young daughter’s fight against cancer.
Lisa’s family is no longer waging this battle alone, but her journey is far from over. One man’s kindness has given Lisa hope that she will live, prosper, and eventually become the pediatrician she has always wanted.
