12 Arrested Over Looting In Tamale And Vandalizing Properties In Damango.

Twelve individuals have been taken into custody by the Ghana Police Service for stealing in Tamale and damaging buildings in Damango.

According to a police statement, initial investigations have shown that the suspects attacked and damaged a number of state buildings, including the Electoral Commission (EC) office in the Savannah Region’s Damango, where they set fire to it.

Additionally, they have vandalized certain collation centers and damaged the homes of some District Chief Executives (DCEs) around the nation.

After some young people robbed food goods from a warehouse and damaged the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly’s property, chaos broke out in the Tamale incident.

Additionally, some of the suspects broke into the School Feeding Project Warehouse in Tamale in the Northern Region and made away with some items, including foodstuffs.”

“Footage of the attacks, vandalism, and looting has been obtained and is being reviewed by a team of dedicated investigators to identify other perpetrators and bring them to justice,” the statement read in part.

The event apparently happened shortly after National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama defeated Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, in the 2024 presidential election.

In the meantime, police have asked the public to maintain their composure as they have increased patrols and strategically placed officers in critical spots to uphold law and order.
