Statue of Akufo-Addo At Effia Nkwanta Completely Destroyed

At the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital roundabout in Sekondi, Western Region, the statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been entirely vandalized.

The memorial was unveiled to honor the former president’s efforts during his administration, and this is the second time it has been damaged.

The statue’s leg was damaged by unknown perpetrators on December 16, 2024, which was the first instance of vandalism. The statue was promptly restored by authorities, but no one was taken into custody in relation to the crime, therefore it remains unclear why the criminals did it.

Less than a week after Akufo-Addo stepped down as president, the statue was completely destroyed in the most recent attack.

During Akufo-Addo’s presidency, officials created the statue to represent his administration’s dedication to enhancing healthcare and infrastructure in the region.
