The Techiman market in the Bono East Region is completely destroyed by fire.
At the time of this report, the fire had been burning for about three hours, having begun at 9:30 p.m.
Wenchi, Sunyani, and Nkoranza fire service crews have been sent to the location to put out the fire and stabilize the situation, according to Agya Tawiah, an eyewitness and reporter with Gaskiyah FM in Techiman.
According to reports, the fire is centered on vendors of spiritual oils, incense, perfumes, and other such goods. Traders in the impacted regions have expressed their destruction, with some claiming to have suffered large losses in the fire.
Three people also received emergency medical attention at Techiman’s Holy Family Hospital.
The police are on high alert, preventing some people from robbing the market of the remaining products, and the fire has damaged over 50 stalls.
Authorities are still keeping an eye on the issue, meanwhile, as the fire is being put out.
