President Mahama appoints Jones Borteye as acting CEO for GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited

His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, has appointed Jones Borteye Applerh as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited.

The appointment is in accordance with Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.

The announcement, contained in an official letter signed by Callistus Mahama, Ph.D., Secretary to the President, indicates that the appointment is pending the constitutionally mandated advice of the governing board, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

Mr. Applerh’s appointment takes effect immediately, beginning January 21, 2025. The letter formally congratulates him and requests that he confirm his acceptance of the role within 14 days of receipt of the letter.

GIHOC Distilleries, a leading state-owned enterprise in Ghana’s beverage industry, is expected to benefit from Mr. Applerh’s leadership as the government seeks to enhance its operations and contribution to national economic growth.

The appointment was communicated to other key stakeholders, including the Vice President, the Chief of Staff, the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, the Board Chairman of GIHOC Distilleries, and the Chairperson of the Public Services Commission.

Mr. Applerh is expected to bring innovative strategies to steer GIHOC Distilleries towards greater success while adhering to the company’s mission and vision. His leadership is anticipated to play a pivotal role in improving the company’s operations and market competitiveness
