Disaster Strikes As Fuel Tanker Ignites In Flames At Enyiresi
On Wednesday night, a petrol tanker in the Atiwa East Municipality of the Eastern Region caught fire at Enyiresi, close to Memphis Construction Ltd.
Residents and onlookers were forced to evacuate for their safety as thick black smoke and fierce flames erupted from the car.
After arriving on the scene quickly, personnel from the Anyinam Fire Station fought the raging fire for hours before putting it out.
To stop the fire from spreading to the tanker’s head, they quickly used foam concentrate solution.
Nkawkaw was brought in to provide further support because of the severity of the fire.
The Anyinam and Nkawkaw crews worked together to control and put out the fire, averting a potential explosion.
The source of the incident is being investigated by authorities, and preliminary findings suggest that a spark may have sparked a fuel leak.
A comparable occurrence occurred in Washington, where a container store next to a GOIL gas station caught fire.
By controlling the roaring flames, the firefighters were able to stop them from spreading to eight other shops and the gas station just behind them.
