BoG Governor to start his terminal leave Feb. 3, 2025, ahead of his retirement on March 28, 2025

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Ernest Addison, is set to commence his terminal leave on February 3, 2025, ahead of his official retirement from the central bank on March 28, 2025.

Dr. Addison, who was first appointed as BoG Governor on April 3, 2017, and subsequently reappointed for a second term on March 29, 2021, has successfully served two full terms. His decision to take accumulated leave prior to his retirement has been approved by President John Mahama, according to an official statement from the Bank of Ghana.

In recognition of his tenure, the Bank of Ghana expressed gratitude to Dr. Addison for his “meritorious and distinguished service” to both the institution and the Republic. The statement also extended best wishes for a restful retirement.

Dr. Addison’s tenure saw significant developments in Ghana’s banking and financial sector, including major policy reforms and stability measures. His departure marks the end of a notable era in the leadership of the Bank of Ghana.

The announcement was issued by the Communications Department of the Bank of Ghana.
