Weeks after Mr. James Agyenim-Boateng was designated Acting MD of SIC Insurance Company Limited by President John Dramani Mahama, Ms. Hollistar Duah-Yentumi, the company’s immediate former managing director, reportedly refused to hand over control to him.
According to reports, Ms. Duah-Yentumi has not only refused to assist with the changeover, but she has also locked the MD’s office and refused to give the new acting MD the keys, rendering it unusable.
President Mahama replaced Ms. Duah-Yentumi, who had been with the previous NPP government, with Mr. Agyenim-Boateng as Acting MD on January 24, 2025.
On Wednesday, February 5, Agyenim-Boateng disclosed on Citi Eyewitness News that he went to SIC’s headquarters to formally identify himself to the management. Ms. Duah-Yentumi, however, declined to go to the meeting, which usually acts as a forum for departing and new CEOs to guarantee a seamless transfer.Listings and tickets for local events
Staff members’ fears have been heightened by the departing MD’s failure to deliver her handover notes, despite official expectations.
Agyenim-Boateng spoke:
“24th January 2025 I was named by his excellency the president. Subsequent to that I was in touch with the office and then I proceeded there. It must have been on a Thursday when I met with the management team.”
“…When I went there I had very good introductory meeting but it was obvious I could not access the office for which I needed to work and therefore for the most part I have worked offsite as in dealing with critical issues of SIC from off the office location”
“It as become apparent that the real difficulty regarding why I have not been able to access the office is because the person before me, the predecessor has actually locked up the offices and bolted with the keys. It is strange.
“As I speak to you I haven’t seen handing over notes of this outgone MD. I have see the handing notes of the MD before her.”
