Five-Year Dispute Resolved: Lands Minister Restores Unity Among Chiefs

In his first visit and interaction with the chiefs on Thursday, February 6, 2025, Ellembelle MP and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, broke a long-standing deadlock in the Western Regional House of Chiefs.

Due to election conflicts, the Western Regional House of Chiefs functioned without executives to chair meetings for over five years.

Awulae Agyefi Kwame, the Paramount Chief of the Nsein Traditional Area, thanked Mr. Buah for his historic and unrelenting efforts during the meeting.

He praised Mr. Buah’s character, track record, humility, and respect, as well as the strategy he used to resolve the conflict, which was ideal for bringing the house together.

Amidst the spirit of reunion, it was announced that Nana Kobinah Nketsia (V), Paramount Chief of Essikado Traditional Area, will lead the new executives as President. Representatives of the National House of Chiefs were also selected.

As a native son, Mr. Buah expressed pride in the accomplishment, saying it opens the door to enduring peace and harmony in the area, which is necessary for regional advancement.

Additionally, he expressed his sincere gratitude to all of the paramount chiefs, queen mothers, and other stakeholders who were instrumental in ensuring that the meeting was extremely fruitful.

Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister Nominee, who was also in attendance, was thrilled with the encouraging outcome. He pointed out that the conflict would have become a serious obstacle for his administration if Mr. Buah hadn’t stepped in.
