Food Smuggling Scandal: Piina SHS Headmaster Interdicted By GES In Upper West

Adams Mahama Issahaku, the headmaster of Piina Senior High School in the Upper West Region, has been placed under interdiction by the Ghana Education Service (GES) in response to an order from the Service’s director-general.

The action, which takes effect immediately, is related to an ongoing inquiry into claims that food items were discovered in Mr. Issahaku’s official pick-up vehicle on Thursday, February 6, 2025, while he was traveling from Piina SHS to Wa.

Razak Z. Abdul-Korah, the Upper West Region’s Regional Director of GES, emphasized in a letter dated February 7 that the interdiction is a procedural procedure and does not entail a presumption of guilt.

All parties involved were reassured by the GES that the inquiry would be exhaustive, that Mr. Issahaku would be informed of the results, and subsequent decisions.

Mr. Issahaku has been directed to turn over the Upper West Regional Director of Education’s management of the school and its related property as part of the mandate.

Additionally, he has been advised to fully comply with the investigation by avoiding any activities that could jeopardize the process and making himself available when needed.

The public was also reassured in the letter of GES’s dedication to maintaining accountability and transparency in the education sector.

It urged Mr. Issahaku and other pertinent parties to follow the instructions and make sure the probe proceeds smoothly.
