The Institute for Energy Security (IES) has projected a slight reduction in petrol and diesel prices in the second pricing window of February 2025, while the cost of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is expected to remain unchanged.
According to the IES, this forecast is based on a decline in global fuel prices, despite the depreciation of the cedi against the dollar. Data from Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Platts indicate a drop in the prices of petrol and diesel on the international market, contributing to the expected reduction at local pumps.
On the local market, fuel prices saw an upward adjustment in the first half of February, with petrol and diesel selling at GH₵15.61 and GH₵15.65 per litre, respectively, while LPG was priced at GH₵18.79 per kilogramme.
With the latest global price trends, consumers can expect some relief at the pump in the coming days, as the second pricing window takes effect from February 16, 2025.
