25 People Sustain Injuries In Gomoa Mprumen Accident

At Gomoa Mprumen Junction on the Winneba-Mankesim Highway in the Central Region, a Sprinter Benz bus collided with a Nissan truck, injuring 25 people.

Eleven individuals had minor injuries, and thirteen suffered major injuries.

The Sprinter Benz bus, registered GW 8172-22, was on its way from Accra to Cape Coast when it collided with a Nissan pickup, marked GN 3611-24, driving in the opposite direction, according to DO2 Anthony Kwesi Rhule, Apam District Fire Service Commander.

The pickup driver made an incorrect U-turn at the intersection, which resulted in the collision.

He added that the driver of the Sprinter, who was speeding, was unable to maintain control of the car in time to prevent the collision.

The injured passengers are currently receiving treatment at the Winneba Trauma and Specialists Hospital and Apam St. Luke Catholic Hospital.

While no fatalities were recorded, DO2 Anthony Kwesi Rhule cautioned drivers against reckless overtaking, speeding, and wrongful U-turns on the Kasoa-Cape Coast highway.

He also urged passengers to be vigilant and call out unsafe driving behavior to help prevent accidents.
