SONA:Mahama vows to drastically reduce presidential staffers

President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to significantly reduce the number of presidential staffers in his administration to ensure a leaner and more efficient government.

Delivering his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in his second term on Thursday, February 27, before Parliament, Mahama emphasized the need for prudent management of public resources.

He noted that previous administrations had seen a steady increase in the number of staff at the presidency, resulting in excessive government expenditure.

“We cannot continue with a system where administrative costs outweigh the benefits to the people. My government will take decisive steps to reduce the number of presidential staffers to enhance efficiency and accountability,” he stated.

Mahama assured that this move would not compromise governance but rather improve productivity.

“A smaller, more competent team is what we need to drive our development agenda. We must cut down on bureaucracy and focus on delivering tangible results that positively impact the lives of Ghanaians,” he affirmed.
