After being compromised for hours, President John Dramani Mahama’s official X account (@JDMahama) has been restored.
On March 16, 2025, the account was compromised and used to advertise Solana Africa, a dubious cryptocurrency hoax, which caused conflicting responses.
The project was “led by Ghana’s President John Mahama to make payments across Africa free using the Solana blockchain,” according to the phony post.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of Government Communications, promised that measures were being taken to get the account back up and running.
Additionally, the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) revealed that it was closely collaborating with X and other pertinent parties to look into and fix the issue.
The President thanked everyone and stated that he had regained access to the account in a recent post on X.
“My team has restored my account, working with the X support team. Thank you for your enquiries and offers to assist,” he wrote.
