ECG containers not missing, officials must account for them- Kofi Bentil

Senior Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has dismissed reports that containers linked to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have gone missing at the port. He insists that such claims are implausible, emphasizing that the containers must have been accompanied by proper documentation throughout their journey.

Mr. Bentil asserted that certain officials are aware of the containers’ current location and should be compelled to provide that information—regardless of whether they are currently in office.

“Ghana is not in a state of anarchy. Our systems and institutions must work,” he stressed, urging an end to what he described as disorderly governance. “We can’t afford to continue this anarchic arrangement.”

He emphasized the importance of accountability, urging that anyone with knowledge of the issue should be identified and held responsible. In a functional state, he noted, those suspected of misconduct would be traced and questioned.

Describing the situation as a glaring governance failure, Mr. Bentil called for a systemic response and decisive action to restore trust and transparency in public institutions.
