Ablekuma North MCE seeks unity among traditional leaders

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ablekuma North, Adamu Musa Kalamu, has lauded the crucial role traditional leaders play in the development of the municipality.
Speaking after paying homage to various traditional leaders in their palaces, Mr Kalamu stressted the importance of collaboration between the assembly and traditional authorities.
“We cannot do the work alone,” Mr Kalamu stated.
“The traditional leaders play strategic roles in the development of Ablekuma North. I have assured them that I will not do this alone.
“At every given time, I will come to their doorsteps for them to advise us and show us what they also feel we can do that will benefit their communities,” he said.
Visit
Mr Kalamu’s visit was to thank and officially introduce himself to the traditional leaders, including Nii Adama II, Odorkor Official Town Mantse; Asafoatse Osiakwan, Tsuimamli; Nii Attoh Maclean, Otaten;
The others are Nii Awuley Ahiaku VI, Kwashieman; Nana Deide Amobiye I, Darkuman; Nene Kartey Ocansey; Awoshi Lafa, and Nii Armah III, North Odorkor.
Mr Kalamu expressed his desire to work closely with them to achieve the assembly’s objectives.
The MCE for Ablekuma North proposed forming an association of traditional chiefs in the municipality to foster unity and facilitate dialogue.
“We will bring them together where we think there are challenges that need to be ironed out together with them,” he explained.
Force
This association, he said, would enable the assembly to deal with a united force of traditional leaders, streamlining communication and policy implementation.
He said the initiative was also to address the current lack of unity among traditional leaders, who operate individually in their paramountcies.
That, he said, would create a stronger, more cohesive partnership between the assembly and traditional authorities.
Mr Kalamu said his objective was to harness the collective potential of traditional leaders and the assembly to drive development and progress in Ablekuma North.
He said as the MCE for the area, he had no jurisdiction or power to install anybody as a chief in the municipality but as an agent of development, progress and peace.
