Accra’s Streetlight Repairs: 70% To Be Fixed In 50 Days, Minister Reaffirms

Linda Ocloo, the regional minister for Greater Accra, has reiterated her goal of having 70% of Accra’s streetlights operating in the next 50 days.

She emphasized her resolve to keep this promise in spite of obstacles and gave locals her word that noticeable improvement would be seen by March 10.

Speaking about the program, Minister Ocloo emphasized how crucial well-lit streets are to boosting safety and boosting pedestrian and vehicle visibility. In order to expedite the installation and repair of lighting throughout the capital, she stated that her office is collaborating closely with pertinent agencies.

We will meet our target within 50 days. Even though we have had some challenges, we went around and found out that many of the cables were stolen, but we are making sure that we meet our target,” she stated.

She further added, “We have tasked the MMDCEs, so we are on a working visit to find out from them how far they have gone. We are also visiting the others as well. We want to make sure that by March 10, we should see something.”

The project is in response to growing concerns over poor street lighting in several areas, which has been linked to increased road accidents and criminal activities.
