African Trade Ministers Convene To Address Tariff Threats From Trump

On Monday, April 14, 2025, African trade ministers will convene to discuss the latest tariffs that US President Donald Trump has proposed.

Wamkele Mene, the secretary general of the African Continental Free Trade Area, stated that the action is a wake-up call for Africa, despite the fact that President Trump has halted the tariffs’ application.

It’s time for all African countries to embrace intra-African trade, according to Wamkele Mene.

The president of the United States has given a wake-up call, and that is that we must accelerate our self-sufficiency. The ministers of trade will meet on April 14 to deliberate on exactly how our continent should respond,” he stated.
