Akua Donkor, the Ghana Freedom Party’s (GFP) presidential candidate, has selected Philip Kwabena Agyemang Appiah-Kubi, a well-known radio and television personality, to be her running mate in the general elections on December 7.
Adakabre Frimpong was her first choice to be her running buddy, but she had to switch at the last minute.
Last Thursday, Madam Donkor turned in her paperwork to run for president on behalf of the Ghana Freedom Party.
In addition to hosting the drive-time show on Atinka FM, Mr. Appiah-Kubi, also known as Roman Fada, hosts the morning show on DL 106.9 FM.
Roman Fada, the manager of well-known Ghanaian highlife artist Daddy Lumba, has been in the broadcasting industry for over 20 years and has made a name for himself as one of the top radio presenters in the nation.
He says it was because of Madam Akua Donkor’s innovative ideas—the GFP’s founder and leader—that he decided to accept the role of running mate.
Still, he expressed his gratitude to her for choosing him to be the vice presidential nominee.
In addition to stating that she will soon release her manifesto outlining her goals for economic change, Madam Akua Donkor claimed that she is running for office in order to improve living conditions and provide relief to Ghanaians.
In order to lower the price of petroleum goods, she reaffirmed her pledge to run a free port while serving as president of Ghana and to implement a plan to process crude oil there.
Regarding the battle against galamsey, Madam Donkor pledged to provide the Ghanaian Armed Forces control over all bodies of water.
