Protests were being held nearby by Ghanaians living in the United States while President Nana Akufo-Addo was giving a speech to the UN General Assembly in New York.
They declare their opposition to the recent apprehension of demonstrators from Democracy Hub in Accra.
Protesters against Galamsey demanded the release of those who had been arrested at the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration.

Meanwhile, in Accra, a fresh group of 11 protesters was brought to court under heavy security.
The group, arrested during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy charges.
#FixTheCountry leader Oliver Barker-Vormawor missed court due to medical treatment. Proceedings were briefly adjourned for the State prosecutor to serve the defense team. Concerns were raised about Felicity Nelson not being listed as an accused. This was the second day of arraignments for protesters against illegal mining and economic mismanagement. Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo emphasized Ghana’s commitment to good governance at the UN General Assembly, highlighting laws and policies that promote accountability and protect citizens.
