Akufo Addo Promises 30 Smart School Construction

President Akufo Addo announced plans to build thirty SMART schools nationwide by the year’s end. These schools aim to enhance high school education by providing teaching and learning management systems, digital content, and electronic devices.

The project is in line with the Ministry of Educations digitalization agenda. It highlights the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for students’ preparation.

Speaking at the official launch of the Ghana Smart Schools project in Accra, President Akufo-Addo highlighted that these schools will operate independently of the national electricity grid. They will feature digitalized infrastructure to advance teaching methodologies.

The other component of the Ghana Smart Schools project is the provision of infrastructure. The government intends to build 100 Smart Schools across the country.”

“And for the avoidance of doubt, it is planned that the 100 Smart Schools will be located in all the 16 regions,” President Akufo-Addo said.

President Nana Akufo-Addo’s education vision for Ghana prioritizes accessibility, quality, and relevance. His flagship policy, Free Senior High School (SHS) Education, ensures equitable access to secondary education. He emphasizes enhancing teaching standards, curriculum development, and infrastructure to meet global benchmarks. Additionally, promoting Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) equips youth with relevant skills for employment and entrepreneurship. Integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into education is pivotal for modernizing teaching and learning methods. Improving teacher training programs and welfare supports educators’ professional growth, ensuring a well-equipped workforce to drive Ghana’s economic development.
