Akufo Addo Promises Justice for Murdered Jirapa Dubai Hotel CEO

President Akufo-Addo assured the people of Jirapa in the Upper West region that the government is committed to ensuring justice for the murder of Eric Johnson, the owner of Royal Cosy Hills Hotel.

Eric Johnson was found dead in his home on February 11, with severe wounds. The attacker(s) allegedly used a ladder and a master card to enter his room.

His final funeral rites on June 1, 2024, at Nayiri Park in Jirapa were attended by the Speaker of Parliament, a Minister of State, clergy, family, chiefs, and well-wishers.

Ambrose Dery, speaking on behalf of President Akufo-Addo, stated in a speech read by the Minister of State at the Office of the President that he would see to it that those who commit crimes are subjected to the full force of the law.

Background story

On February 28, the Wa District Court ordered the seven suspects linked to the murder of Eric Johnson to be held in police custody. Presided over by Mr. Maxwell Maxibrain Titriku, the court scheduled their next appearance in two weeks for ongoing investigations.

Six of the suspects, including Dookuuri Fausta, Braimah Kasim, Belinda Miller, and Michael Klugey, who are hotel employees, will be held by the Wa Police. The main suspect, Elyasah Mahama, remains in Wa Central Prison.

Mahama, a former HR officer at the hotel, was fired by Johnson just three days before the murder. He was captured in Takoradi and flown to Wa for questioning. Two other suspects, Favour Nuobe and Kweku Kombata, were also arrested.
