Alan Resigns As Trade Minister

Alan John Kyerematen, Minister Of Trade and Industry, has resigned from his position.

Mr Alan Kyerematen has been part of the Nana Addo-led administration since winning power in 2017. Reports indicate the minister tendered his resignation letter to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

The reason for the resignation of the minister is unknown to the public. The minister is believed to have resigned to focus on his presidential ambitions.

The 67-year-old made his first attempt to lead the New Patriotic Party as its flagbearer in 2007 but failed in his bid as Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo emerged as the winner.

He has been a key campaigner of the government’s One District One Factory initiative. The initiative has birthed about 170 factories across the country.

Through his leadership at the Trade Ministry, the country also witnessed the production of local vehicles by auto giants such as Suzuki, VW, Nissan, and Sino Trucks among others under the Automotive Development Policy.

His resignation has come as a surprise to many because he is among the few ministers working under the docile NPP government. Before his resignation, his supposed supporters crushed with supporters of the vice president.
