Asantehene Awarded Honorary Doctorate By University of Cape Coast

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has granted an honorary doctorate degree to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, in appreciation for his outstanding leadership and unwavering efforts to advance peace, unity, and development in Ghana.

At a special ceremony held on the university grounds, Chancellor of UCC and well-known businessman Sir Sam Jonah awarded the honorary degree to the Asantehene.

The Oguaa Fetu Afahye festival was being celebrated at the same time as Otumfuo’s visit to Cape Coast.

Academic achievement and traditional Ghanaian culture were on show during the conferment ceremony.

The celebration, which honored Otumfuo’s leadership and his steadfast dedication to upholding cultural traditions while embracing modernization, drew dignitaries from throughout the nation.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II thanked the University of Cape Coast for the honorary doctorate and reaffirmed his commitment to the causes of unity, progress, and education in Ghana.

The Manhyia Palace and Opemsuo Radio published photos from the event that showed the grandeur of the moment when the honored King—who is now officially known as Otumfuo (Dr.) Osei Tutu II—was bestowed with the honor amidst cheers and revelry.

The Asantehene has received numerous honors, and this latest one from UCC strengthens his reputation as a statesman dedicated to the welfare of all Ghanaians.
