Asantehene To Storm Ga State On A Historic Visit

All preparations are on for this Sunday’s historic visit by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, according to an official announcement from the Ga Mantse office.

At a press conference held on Thursday, June 6, at the Ga Mantse Palace, the royal visit preparation committee, headed by Nii Boi Abbey, stated that the Ashanti overlord’s first-ever visit represents a significant turning point in the two kingdoms’ histories.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, will conduct a special durbar to cap off the visit.

The close connection between the Gas and Ashantis is renewed by this historic visit. It also comes after the Ga Mantse actively took part in the Asantehene’s recent celebration of his 25 years as king or queen, the speaker stated.

He added:

“The Ga and Ashanti people have had extensive interactions, which have led to the exchange of cultural practices, traditions, and ideas.”

, the interactions between Gas and Ashantis over the centuries have culminated in common themes in the areas of governance, inclusiveness, and specific cultural practices including family structure, traditional dances, the structure of the calendar year, taboos, defence mechanisms, and historical interactions with other tribes.

“These similarities highlight the strong ties between the Asantes and Gas, which are rooted in their shared African heritage.

“The durbar of the two gallant royals will also be used to promote peace ahead of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections in December this year.”

The planning committee leader said everyone is invited to witness this historic event in Ghanaian tradition at the Ga Mantse’s Palace in Kaneshie, Accra, at 11 am on Sunday, June 9.
